Migrant Farm Workers are roughly 38,000 temporary foreign agricultural workers who work in Canada each year, majority in Ontario. They are young or middle-aged men from developing countries; small proportion are women. Most have low levels of education and literacy, generally do not speak English unless it is their first language. They work from 6 to 7 days a week, 8 to 12 hours a day and can increase substantially during the peak season. They often lack sufficient breaks, health and safety training, and personal protective equipment.
